The Foodie’s Guide to Topsham
Topsham is a paradise for food lovers, whether to buy for later, eat-in now, or have overlooking the estuary.
If shopping is your bag … well, bring several! No other neighbourhood in the area boasts a combination of a top-quality fresh fish shop, a specialist local cheese store, a traditional greengrocer and a butcher with a local pedigree, alongside several places to buy freshly baked bread – oh and there’s a Saturday market, too.
If it’s just a snack, you don’t have to settle for the same-old same-old: Topsham’s many cafés offer a huge range of freshly baked cakes and pastries, and for the traditionally minded, you’re never far away from a Devon cream tea.
Lunch or dinner is a treat whether you hunger for the sophisticated or the relaxed. Topsham has several award-winning restaurants specialising in locally sourced fish and meat, and there’s also a well-known Indian restaurant. Then there are our wonderful pubs, somedirectly overlooking the estuary, and cafés tempting you with salads, sandwiches or a simple Ploughmans. You won’t go hungry in Topsham!
If the weather’s kind and you’re not sitting in to eat or drink, head for Love Topsham’s benches at the Quay or the Recreation Ground, and watch the world go by in the most beautiful waterside setting.
