What’s it to be? A round of Bridge or a game of rugby? Singing in a choir or trying your hard (and arm) at bellringing? Perhaps you would prefer to help out at Topsham Museum or strutt your stuff with an amateur dramatics group?

Topsham has no shortage of groups, clubs and associations with open doors for new members. Whether you want to simply show your support and join the group, or become an active volunteer, then you will find Topsham’s huge and growing numbers of organisations right here.

You do not have to be an expert nor an old hand in the town – Topsham benefits from people relocating to the area all the time and a perfect way of meeting new friends and ‘giving something back’ is by volunteering and immediately becoming part of a community.

And if you are running a group or a service we have not mentioned here, please get in touch. We want this part of our website to be the one-stop-shop where residents and newcomers alike get an instant snapshot of the busy, on-the-go, active and mutually-supportive place called Topsham!

There are so many clubs, groups and classes in Topsham – you’ll be spoilt for choice. And we know, they are not all listed here! We hope this inspires you to find a new hobby or pursue a favourite activity.

4 Simple ways you can support Love Topsham

For as little as a cup of coffee per month you can help Love Topsham’s work in the town. From Christmas Lights to Flower Barrels, from Summer Music to Picnic Benches.

Residents and Visitors: for a regular donation we request a minimum of £36 per year or £3 a month via standing order.

Become a business supporter and your business will benefit from:

  • Your own page on the Love Topsham website. You supply the content, we build your page
  • Your business will be one of the Featured Businesses on the homepage
  • The opportunity for us to promote you or your event to the town on our social media

Your support means we are able to promote the town and community by:

  • Putting Topsham on the map with publicity, advertising, social media work, one-off events, and supporting the community wherever possible;
  • Making Topsham a better place through the likes of flower barrels, participating in community activities, picnic benches on the Quay, and the spectacular Christmas Lights;
  • Running the town website, lovetopsham.co.uk, listing businesses that support Love Topsham with links and commendations;
  • Driving footfall for shops through street musicians in summer and approaching Christmas, plus newsletters and occasional door-drops to 5,000 letter boxes, and always urging residents and visitors to always shop in the town;
  • Helping under-the-radar businesses through social media promotion and events;
  • We work with local groups to promote what’s happening in the town, being careful to avoid political or divisive issues.

Micro-Businesses (a part-time business or, for example, class teachers who work in Topsham occasionally): To receive a Love Topsham card (and a second card free for any named person in your household), we request a minimum donation of £72 for 2026 (preferred) or £6 a month.

Business Supporter: To receive a Love Topsham card (and a second card free for any named person in your household or who works in your business), we request a minimum donation of £120 for 2026 (preferred).

This year, all individual donations will go to our Topsham Twinkle fund, to replace some of our Christmas lights that no longer twinkle as they should.

We kindly request that individual donations are for a minimum of £5, otherwise a large proportion of the donation will be used up in bank charges rather than the Twinkle fund!
